PC ZONE MAGAZINE
& COMPUTERANDVIDEOGAMES.COM
I've said it before and I'll no doubt say it again, a good musical score
is worth its weight in gold. Hitman has some of
the best tunes I've heard all year - I've been humming the main
theme music for weeks now. Each level's music has its own unique identity,
straying free of cliche but dynamically altering to suit the on-screen
action as needed. It's amazing how often this side of game development
is just taken for granted by most people. So when a score manages to jump
out and actually grab your attention, to hang around and enhance the overall
atmosphere of the game rather than just fade away into the background,
it deserves applause.
FIRING SQUAD
I don't say it too often, but I really enjoyed the music in this game.
I really dug what they pieced together. The menu soundtrack seemed
like Shaft meets the 90s. The rest of the music had an equally enjoyable
flair, groovy beats all around.
HEAD2HEAD
Sephiroth : Well, I think one of the things that both of us will agree on
is the kickass music in this game. As soon as I heard the beats in the main
menu, I was completely hooked. When you get into the game, the music even gets
better, gets more 'mysterious' at times but great nonetheless. I think the
sound, in general, was done tremendously well.
Tristinian : Absolutely, and
the music I found often had this impending essence to it...as if your target
was about to get the worst nightmare of his life with your arrival.
GLIDE UNDERGROUND
Accompanying this vivid world is an awesome soundtrack. The music changes
tune to match your environment or the moment of a game. Walking around
the streets calmly provides you with a soothing tune as to not get
wild and blow your cover around a bunch of guys after you. Entering
the hideout of your next target brings a more low toned sound keeping
you on your toes and watching your back. The score really adds to the
overall mood of the game and helps accompany the tone the level design
sets....the music on the other hand was brilliant. Adding a Great deal
to the game and bringing some great sound to the game as well. Sound/Music:
5 Stars (out of 5)
GONE GOLD
The music in the game is excellent and creates some serious tension. The
excellent and moody music earns Hitman a respectable 85 in sound/music.
ADRENALINE VAULT
Musical Score: 4 stars (out of 5) Techno phrases rule in Hitman, with the beat
changing depending on the phase of your mission. There are also variations
at times, with calming music playing at the beginning of each scenario. Overall,
the music in Hitman is designed with the intent of changing your mood from
that of extreme paranoia to calming reprieve. The developers succeed quite
well in using the musical tracks in conjunction with well-timed triggers to
enhance the environment and engross players. Try almost botching a long mission
near the end when you are spotted as looking suspicious and only escaping by
ducking into a closet at the last second. You'll notice your heart beating
along the rhythm of the accompaniment.
GAMEREACTOR
The audio in Hitman is some of the best I have listend to in a long
time. The music, which is composed by Jesper Kyd, fits the different
environments well, and you never grow tired of listening to it, even
when playing the same level over and over. The sound effects are not
far behind the quality of the music and they really are in a class
of their own.
DA GAMEBOYZ
The first thing I noticed about the music was that it matched the game
quite nicely. We are given a good mix of low, flowing melodious tones
with a clearly defined beat. It is very effective as, like I said before,
it matches the gameplay and heightens the overall experience. Sound:
9.1 (out of 10)
